- Getting started:
- During any part of the editing process, you can check which
- editing screen you are in by checking the title at the top
- of the screen. You can move between these screens by using
- the icon on the far left of the screen.
-
- Note that as you move the mouse pointer over buttons and
- icons on the screen, a text description will appear at the
- foot of the editor screen.
-
- The following notes are a rough guide only, detailed
- assistance is available from the Help option once the
- program is installed.
-
- Note that the 3D button takes you to the 3 dimensional world,
- the 2D button takes you to the 2 dimensional world, rather
- than displaying which mode you are currently in.
-
- 1. Build Your Room
- When you first run the program, you will be presented with
- the Build your room editing screen. Note the "Build" icon
- on the left is highlighted.
-
- This section is the first step in room design. You may select
- from a variety of initial layouts from the layouts display at
- the top of the screen, after which you can customise the room
- shape, making it as simple or as complex as you like. You can
- use the grid tool for more precise measurements, if required.
-
- Once your room shape is complete, choose doors and windows
- from the comprehensive object categories in the top left of
- the screen. Unlike all the other editors, all the work here
- is done in a plan view environment, but by clicking the 3D
- button you can view a rotating 3 dimensional simulation of
- your work.
-
- 2. Decorate Your Room
- Click on the "Decorate" icon to enter this editor.
- This editor allows you to decorate your room in either a 2 or
- 3 dimensional environment.
-
- You can actually walk around the room and decide upon the
- colour and texture schemes you are going to use and see the
- results instantly.
-
- The layouts display will now show all the different paint
- colours, wall textures, wallpaper and fabrics available. The
- sub-categories (brick, wood, tile etc.) are shown in the
- object categories section.
-
- At any time in your design, you may return to Decorate Your
- Room in order to change textures, or even change the fabrics
- on furniture you have placed into your room.
-
- 3. Furnish Your Room
- Click on the "Furnish" icon to enter this editor
- The third section is where the real fun starts! In here, you
- may bring in a large variety of household furniture,
- appliances and other objects from many different styles and
- cultures. Don't worry yet about where to position them, just
- pull in the type of furniture you are interested in and drop
- them into a space within your room. To look for all the
- different types of furniture available, click on the different
- tabs of the layouts display in the top left of the screen.
-
- Some objects belong on the floor only, others are designed to
- hang from the ceiling whilst some only reside against a wall.
- If you bring in these objects, 3D Interior Designer 2 Lite
- will handle the more detailed placement for you.
-
- Once you have placed all your objects roughly in place, you
- can enter the Arrange Your Room editor to rotate and adjust
- the positions of the furniture more precisely.
-
-
- 4. Arrange Your Room
- Click on the "Arrange" icon to enter this editor.
- Now you have furnished your room, you can position the
- furniture. There are many ways to move and rotate objects
- into their correct position, but they are all done in this
- section.
-
- Objects may be positioned in a number of ways. The 2D View is
- an ideal starting point to quickly move your furniture into
- position. You can pick up and move objects from one side of
- the room to another. You may also rotate objects providing
- there is space to do so.
-
- Once an object is selected, you may move it, either, using
- the four movement controls on the tab book at the top of the
- screen or directly by dragging with the left and right mouse
- buttons. Left mouse gives you direct movement control whilst
- right mouse provides you with rotation. Once you have got
- your objects into roughly the correct position, enter the 3D
- view.
-
-
- 5. View Your Room
- Viewing your room is where everything comes to life and is
- the ideal section to show your room off to your friends and
- family.
-
- 6. Saving your room
- You can save your room at any time using the File menu at
- the top left of the screen. Use Save as... to save your room
- as a particular file name, Save will save your room as the
- last used file name.
